1976 MAT

1976 Microman Series

Microman T43X Titan 2 - T441 Icarus and T442 Achilles (c.1976)

Titan 2

T442 Achilles and T441 Icarus

Takara released Titan 2 Series T43X Type and T44X in October  of 1976. Titan 2 as the name might suggest, was a follow up series to the very successful Magnemo-8 Microman Titan T40X introduced earlier in the year. Titan 2 series was the first Titan series to include "vehicle" conversion parts as an accessory for the action-figure. They were also among the first "transformable" Microman figure along with the President Acroyear series (also released during the same year). Titan 2 were retailed for 750 Yen which in 1976 was quite a bit more than the regular Microman figure.

UFO Titan Accessories are both Magnemo-8 and 5mm compatibles.

Unlike the other Microman, Titan 2 were somewhat unique in that they were the only Microman figure in the original line with different designation numbers (T43X and T44X) but shared the exact same body style.  Titan 2, instead, were differentiated by their accessories that came with each figure. T43X came with race car parts and were dubbed the "Racing Titans" while T44X came with saucer spaceship parts and were called the "UFO Titans".  T43X included - T431 Deimos and T432 Regulus and T4X included T441 Icarus and T442 Achilles.  Like previous Titan series, Titan 2 used the same naming convention and having the figure named after a celestial object.  Titan 2 series were more robotic-looking than the first Titan and the design clearly reflected by those of the 2nd series Microman such as the M11X and M12X style and later Henshin Cyborg Android-A series.  Like M11X and M12X the chrome chest plate legacy were abandoned and replaced with slim body and more angular and robotic like appearance. Titan 2 head design has "duck-like" mouth piece and fans gave them the nickname the "Ducky Titans".

T441 Icarus has white body molded in one piece with magnetic core enclosed in the center. Icarus has blue legs that match his blue UFO saucer part. The wheels and fins are molded in blue-green color. T442 Achilles has dark green body with black legs. He comes with red UFO with rear fins and wheels parts molded in blue. Both vehicle accessories come with 5mm peg that can be clip into the race car rear wing spoiler and allow Microman figure to ride on top when the Titan 2 is inserted into the front section and can be launch using spring-loaded mechanism. Titan 2 were not as popular as the first Titan series but they are still one of the more sought after Titan figures in Microman and Magnemo-8 line.
