Micro Action Series is essentially a licensed character using
Microman Full Action Body format with no real tie to regular Microman
line. (Unlike Kiguru and Material Force series which are somewhat part
of the main line). Micro Action series have been very popular with
action-figures collectors who otherwise do not collect Microman series.
The characters for Action Series have been very diverse from Devilman to
Superman Returns and with nice good mix of live-action, comic and anime
GIRLS OF MICRO ACTION
When TAKARA introduce Microlady Body back
in 2004, they also release several female characters for Micro Action
Series. The Microlady Body work decently for comic characters like
Catwoman and Bat-girl however, the body didn't work too well for anime
style characters. In 2006, Takara retool the female body and introduce
the new version 2 of Microlady body also known as "Anime Body" type. The
first Micro Action series to take advantage of the new body design are
the two Plug Suit versions of EVA Girls - Rei and Asuka.
EVANGELION - ANGELS
Evangelion is the landmark ground
breaking anime series produce by Studio Gainax back in 1995. (This year
mark the 10th Anniversary of the series). The series set in
post-apocalyptic world with human using EVA (biomechanical mecha) pilot
by young teenagers to battle the invasion of the "Angels" creature. The
series is unusual since the story is center more on the character psyche
and emotion than the battle between the mecha and the monster.
FULL-ACTION VERSION 2
Takara actually released the two EVA
Girls, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley in their normal clothing back in
2005. The first two EVA figures use the first Microlady Body and the
figures look very awkward and unnatural. In 2006, Takara debut the
new Microlady Ver. 2 or Anime Body with the Plug Suit versions of the
two girls. The Plug Suit is the suit the girls wear when they pilot the
biomechanical EVA unit. The new body type work out great especially for
the Plug Suit design and the figures just look simply gorgeous.
PLUG SUIT VERSION
The Plug Suit versions of Rei and Asuka
actually use a mixture of the old Microlady body with the new Anime Type
body. The figures use all new mold for the main body part. The joints
are nice and tight, though the paint jobs are not the best they are not
too bad for small low price action-figures. The heads are big
improvement over Takara previous attempt at anime characters.
To add a touch of Microman to the
figures, Takara include a set of chromed weapons for the figures. The
weapons are miniature version of the weapons the EVA used in the series.
EVA Plug Suit Girls come with a set of hands (same as the old Microlady
Ver.1 body type) and a pair of the new un-articulate hands design for
the Anime Body type. The new EVA Girls Plug Suit are very nicely done
and really show off the potential for the new Anime Body type.
